Doom: Dark Eges is the third game of the new “Dum” era since the franchise was re -booted in 20 2016 and in 2021, Doom Eternal, Doom was followed with a second game forever. Although this new title makes some big changes in the game, and I mean “big” that I think it looks like my pep. ”
In this latest surrounding, the developer ID software tweeted only to go out of enemy shooting and tweet the Dum formula and far away from the platforms found in the Doom forever. The result is a mixture of action that is true when it is during some timeframe, but the action is flat beyond the action. There is a lack of fields that start pumping my adrenaline compared to the previous doum games.
Make the foundation for Doom: the dark agesThe game takes place before the 2016 Reboot events. Dumgui, known as the entire Slayer, was transferred to hell after the incident of Dum 64 to fight against the monsters’ groups. Shortly after the fought against the demons for billions of years, he has moved to the Argentine D’R, which is a separate field that fights hell with a future weapon with a medieval motif in this epic war. As a Slayer, he is there to help people win and then which is a very dramatic, almost Game of Thrones-type story but it seems shallow.
And i get it. The Dum story wasn’t true about the story but it has been since reboot. What I like about the reboot is that I am playing the same character in my high school computer lab 20 years ago. A character who returned from the depth of hell and was once again used as a living weapon to defeat the army from Hell. Then, at Dum Eternal, we learn how Dumgui was a mythical hero in other states and traveling to that state that seemed equivalent to a heavy metal album cover.
See it: Hands on: Dum the Dark Edge
Doom: The Dark Age, I didn’t feel the same excitement to know more about Dumgui’s past. The conspiracy attempt not only worked, so making my way through the chapters was occasionally a slogan. Don’t make me mistake: The action was mostly exciting, but all the new elements of the game took a while to get to the peak where they took place.
Dumgui’s new toys (and tricks)
The maximum significance of these new elements is the addition of a solder. It is weird to play a doum game with an IELD El, but it is part of the ID to define the gameplace by adding some depths. Shield provides four types of verbs that are important during the game, the most obvious, including defense.
Some enemies have large guns, especially that you can tear out if you don’t use your own solder. As you can expect, there is a shield throw, a La Captain America, so you can use it as a weapon. This throw can be a pillar for the weak enemies or a pillar for more tough people because it is tears in their body.
Dumgui also has a shield bash that does something damage, but as a result of faster dashing towards enemies, it acts as a way to break open obstacles across the layers. To the end, there is shield parry. Some enemies shot green projectiles that can go back to them, which some enemies have to overcome. I appreciated that the parry window is more generous or tightening depending on what it works for you.
Another change is that Arsenal is available for Dumgui. BUT new guns introduced a few new weapons with franchise mainstays like Doom Atternal Chengoon and BFG 9000 but they have the same feeling with other weapons like the accelerator compared to the plasma rifle.
Each gun has an alternative fire that acts like a new weapon. For example, the Shrader feels like a standard machine gun that shoots bolts between enemies. After the game, you can unlock the alternative version, known as an impeller called Empeler, it fire big spikes and acts like a non-skoping sniper rifle because it causes huge damage to the headshots. Another weapon, the most notable for its design, is the most significant for its design, which crush the scalp and the bone pieces to extract multiple enemies at once. The guns were not the only new weapon for Dumgui, as there are also new melee weapons, the most notable of the flakes.
The solder and each weapon level can be upgraded through gold, ruby and rhythstones. This is where the action can be fun because upgraded enemies in a certain way can have various effects on the enemies, from tackling the damage to the nearest enemies, to prolong the enemies or to throw more ammunition or armor to the enemies. There is a combination of upgrades that create this great harmony between the IELD El and the weapons. Players are available for a lot of tests to make their favorite weapon more fun.
Big map, big fights
Reasonably, the most noticeable changes in the doom: the dark ages are open layers. Previous games were more limited, the players had to clean the rooms. In this game, there are large maps with multiple fields that need to be cleared to complete the chapter. This allows a lot of exploration because there is a lot of privacy here. Enemies are scattered all over, but there are some areas where an obstacle will pop up and you have to deal with the ghost group in a close-off space similar to the previous doum games. Like the rest of the doom: Like the dark ages, this level is here and there is a medieval appearance with some future pronunciation. This style, which is also shown in the doom forever, creates a significant representation in the Xbox Series X when combined with heavy metal music.
Atlan Mach
Speaking of the presentation, two “big” additions to the Doom franchise are dragons and Atlan Mach, which is available at certain levels. The verb changes the same way when both of them run. Whether you are with the dragon or mech, you make progress through the level and combine the aggressive and enemy attacks to dodings. Traveling on both is fun, but where the dragon flies across the entire layer and chase certain enemies, the Atlan builds the buildings because it fights with giant monsters. While enjoyable, I have to admit, I don’t think anything is limited to their specific level; There was nothing to do with them.
All new additions to Dum Software: Dark Edges are welcome changes to keep a franchise that feels fresh for more than three decades. Although something is missing I can’t still tremble the feeling. It doesn’t have the same tension as the last two doum games. Because of that, it never gave me the same rush during the game. There was something stretched where it really felt annoying, which is wild to say about a doum game. It certainly comes up to the places and provides some great moments, but I kept intenting to have more meat in the bones – just something that cared for me more about this adventure.
Doom: Dark Edges are published for the 15th May Xbox, PlayStation and PC and it will be available at the game pass at the time of launch. Dum’s Premium Edition Purchase Players: Dark Edges will get access to the game on May 13.
