Laser-powered fusion experiment more than doubles its power output

TechCrunch has learned, the world’s only net-positive fusion test is continuously increasing the amount of energy it produces.

In recent efforts, the US Department’s Energy National Ignition Facility (NIF) team has increased the test yield, first 5.2 megousless and then on 8.6 megousless, a source with the knowledge of the exam.

The new results were significant improvement in 2022 compared to the Historic Tihasic Examination, which was the first controlled fusion response to generate more energy than it took.

The 2022 shot made 3.15 megousles, the lasers are a small bump above 2.05 megoules provided on the BB-size fuel.

Until today, no shot was not effective in feeding the electrons back to the grid, let’s offset the energy needed to get the full advantage – this facility was not designed to do this. For example, the first net-positive shot requires 300 megawles to get the laser system alone. However, these are continuing evidence that the controlled nuclear fusion is higher than the assumption.

Although no magnetic captive test has been able to produce net-positive results, several are being created or are designed with the expectation that they will hit the milestone.
