It would be easier to recommend the Eser Chromebook Plus 516 if the fact that Acer’s own Chromebook Plus could not be found at 516 GE low prices. The “GE” of these other models stands for the gaming version but you don’t need to be a gamer to appreciate its additional benefits. Both are large, 16-inch chromebook, but GE doubles a high-resolution display driven by a new Intel processor doubled the storage, adding its design and some metal to the RGB backlighting. Acer Chromebook Plus 516 is a fine overall chromebook. Its enclosure is completely made of plastic, but it is fairly built and does not look cheap. Its 16 -inch display is room -made and creates an image that shows enough crisp for general use. Lack of any keyboard backleting – RGB or otherwise – disappointing but with its number pad, Chromebook Plus 516 probably better fit for the number cranks. Unless you find it for sale at a lower price than the GE version or not at absolutely no need for a chromebook with Numpad, there is really no reason to choose the Chromebook Plus 516 above the Chromebook 516GE.

Chromebook Plus 516 is basically an entry-level model for Google’s Chromebook Plus section. The minimum requirements labeled as the Chromebook Plus are:
- XII-XNER Intel Core i3 or AMD Rhigen 3 7000 processor or better
- 8GB or more of memory
- 128 GB or more storage
- 1080 p-regulation IPS LCD or better
- 1080p webcam with temporary noise reduction
Except for its 13th-generator core i3 chip, Chromebook Plus 516 Hits the minimum requirements and nothing goes on.
Core i3 1315 U is now two generations old in the back of Intel’s Meteor Lake and Lunar Lake Series. For example, the Core 5 120U chip is a meteor lake in the Chromebook Plus 516 GE. As you can see in the performance charts below, Chromebook Plus 516GE has exceeded Chromebook Plus 516 in most of our criteria. Chromebook Plus 516 is still a top actress in the Chromebooks because many current models features a lower-power chip of 12th-generator core i3 or Intel N series.
Chromebook Plus 516 is one of the longest running chromebooks we have tested for 11 hours 35 minutes in our YouTube streaming test. This is a great runTime for a chromebook but especially for one with such a large display.
Your average chrombook is larger than
Chromebook Plus 516 is the opposite of the under -ized chromebooks that you or your kids can use at any time in school. Instead of a small touchscreen it is based on a large, 16 -inch display that lacks touch support. This is a basic IPS panel with a standard resolution and refresh rate. The text shows crisp and the images look sharp on 1,920×1,200-pixel screen but the Chromebook Plus 516GE’s 2,560×1,600-Pixel display is fine on the Pixel display. Web browsing and ordinary chrombooks working on Google dox and sheets, no need to spend more on the high-resolution panel unless the high-resolution panel is sold at the same price as this review.
Likewise, the higher 120Hz refresh rate of the GE model does not require most users, but it is best to stay if the price is right. A bargain for fast refresh rate gamers because the movement of games looks smooth. And you may be able to detect smooth scrolling through the GE model web pages compared to the 60Hz panel here, but you do not like to see rigid hurry. Again, this is not a requirement for most Chromebook users but this is a great feature.
Despite the large display, the Chromebook Plus 516 is relatively carryable. It weighs 3.67 pounds, which is equal to the GE model and is about one and a half pounds lighter than the 16 -inch Lenovo Ideapad 5 Eye Chromebook. Meanwhile, at £ 3.2, the 14 -inch Chromebook Plus 514 Chromebook Plus is half -pound lighter than 516.
Acer Chromebook Plus 516 is featured in an all-plastic enclosure, which is ideal for most chromooks. According to Esar it has passed the Mill -STD -810 H tests for durability, but some flakes may be felt. The flax is the worst in the middle of the keyboard, which is not unexpected due to the large spread of such a large chromook. The top cover cover of the plastic also flakes a bit behind the display. The 516GE model is mostly plastic, but there is an aluminum top cover behind the display and the style of style.
Comfortable to use the keyboard; The keys feel stable and offer a lot of travel. They are also quiet when pressing; This is no cheap, not a clacky keyboard. Eser has added a number pad but not at the expense of the rest of the keyboard – no short key. It includes a new key that I have never seen in the Chromebook before-the caps-lock doubles twice as a quick insert key that calls a context-sensitive menu with Google AI that calls emoji, GIF and recent files to edit content and edit edit.
There is a spacious speaker grill on the keyboard, which I expected me something that the audio output would have a bit kicking on it. Sadly, my hopes were baseless. Stereo speakers set fire to Ward Fire, which is always a good start for laptop audio that opposite the downward-firing speaker that pushes the audio to your desk or coat. The speakers seemed to be horribly weak and a perfect no-go for music enjoyment. They provide nothing in the way of alloy reactions and mids and highs seem to be shocking. Even when watching a show or a movie, the dialogue sounds unnecessary.
The 1080p webcam provides a fairly clear image but it has more words with you to get with the 1440p camera with you. AI equipment designed for digital grain removal did not work very effective. From the positive side of the webcam, it features a physical shutter so that you can protect your privacy when you don’t make a video call.
Chromebook Plus 516 offers two USB-C ports and two USB ports, so you don’t have to carry any USB devices around any adapter to attach it to it. However, the ports are slow by modern quality. Thunderbolt 4 40 Gbps speed but the pair of USB-C ports here are at the top of 10Gbps. And the ports at USB are slow even at 5Gbps.
Eser Chromebook Plus 516 is worth buying?
There is nothing wrong with Chromebook Plus 516 to prevent any recommendation. Its defects – unnecessary plastic design, poor audio output, no keyboard backleting – not abnormal to any chromebook. However, the Chromebook Plus 516GE is obviously a good purchase when it is less available. I will simply point to the Chromebook Plus 516 when it is sold and the GE is not a model.
The full price of the GE model is $ 649, which is $ 170 more than the “non-GE” Chromebook Plus 516, but when that price difference is not just disappearing but there is no reason to choose the Chromebook Plus 516 on the GE model. Only at the time when you can get the non-GE model less than the GE model that is understandable to choose it.
