A handful of engineers working on Lucid Motors and Apple’s electronic car projects have launched a new startup that puts a new spin on electronic hub motors.

Conifer initially noticed the space of small dynamics with its hub motor, which it was drawn as a “drop-in”, which means that customers can replace the existing hub motors without changing any large design. It is running on on-road vehicles with two, three or four wheels.

In an interview, one of the co-founders of Connifer, Ankit Somani TechCrunch, told TechCrunch that he was disappointed with the lack of investment and innovation on electric motors. Somani said, “There was a lot of investment and battery technology department, every part of the Cathods, anodos, electrolytes – every part of it.
