“Hola, Aagarez” means “Hello, Chess” in Spanish. You have always been able to learn Spanish in Dualingo and soon you will be able to learn and practice chess on the language learning app. Duolingo announced on Tuesday that beta testers could now practice centuries -old board game in Duolingo and others will be able to learn the game in the app within a few months.
Duolingo’s chess lessons are aims to become apprentice-friendly
I’ve talked to a Duolingo representatives about the upcoming lessons. They said they want to expand what people can learn through the app and chess was the primary competitor.
“[Chess is] One of those things that … any age group can learn … but then something that takes 10,000 hours theory to really master, ” Edwin BodDr. Doolingo is a senior product manager. “We thought it would fit really well with the Duolingo medium.”
When I asked why people would use duolingo than other chess learning sites and tools, Bodz said that many other chess products are ready for advanced users, not many newcomers.
“We really saw a great opportunity and a great opportunity to try to do middle care of one more apprentice [player] And try and increase access to the game, ”he said.

Chess lessons should feel similar to other duolingo lessons
When you start, Doolingo has asked how much you already know about chess – like the other lessons of the app. Dualingo will then adjust the lessons according to your response.
If you say that you are absolutely new to the cheek and have no knowledge about the game, the initial lessons will concentrate on how to capture other pieces and how to move each piece before examining the King. Other lessons are like mini-pazls where you may be asked to capture different pieces using four rice or less than that or a single piece like your knight or rook.
You can access the hints for each lesson, but if you get something wrong, your opponent will respond to you to show you that you have left a piece for capture -like capture -like capture. And if you get something wrong, Duolingo will show you what to do.
“If you have made it a mistake multiple times we will finally show you an arrow that shows you exactly where to move,” said Sammy Sigle, a software engineer in Doolingo.
Progress through chess is similar to other Duolingo lessons, so it should be familiar with others who have used the application earlier.
If you are subscribing to Duolingo Max and make a mistake in a language lesson, the app can explain the mistake – and what is the correct solution – with a feature that explains my answer. However, this feature will not be available with the chess lessons. It is not always easy to explain why something is correct or wrong in the dab because there are many million different steps here.
“We want to be better in full explanation,” said Sigel. “There are some mix of AI and model training that we are hoping to explain better why the specific step is wrong.”
Since there are many steps in the dab, it is possible to create steps that can be right but this is not the best option. In these national examples, Duolingo will display a banner that lets you know that a step is not wrong but this is definitely not the best step.
Duolingo also said that each section presents a range of ELO rating system – The method by which the chess player’s skills are calculated. With your progress, your lessons will be more rigid and more challenging. This is similar CEFR The app is a level of language skills attached to different language categories in the app.
You will also get the opportunity to do “mini matches” or full-game against your Duolingo chess coach Oscar. These matches will be difficult to challenge you too, so after the first week of your game you are not facing a Grandmaster-level chess player. However, this does not mean that you can play OP. If you make a mistake, such as leaving your queen open to capture, take advantage of the Oscar and give you a jerk to recover.
Playing against the Oscar is a good practice, when these chess lessons are launched you will not be able to face against other players. However, Duolingo said that matches against other people are something they are looking for, so you may be able to play against a friend on the app in the future.
“We are one of the major causes of doing so we think we can get to a whole generation of people interested in cheeks,” said Bodz.
The chess lessons of the Duolingo are now in Bita and will start to turn around in English in mid -May. Duolingo said it was working to bring these lessons to Android devices and more languages next months.
