In most week -long technology events, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to do communication and trade tips, serious sessions where CEOs and government officials share their views, and the time of happiness is where the future agreement is made. However, how many “Tech Wicks” are included in a show-and-tell feature of a military-grade jet gun?

It was one of the time bonus attractions Seattle Space WeekA Memorbird of the Events Served The northwest of space And partner of it.

As the participants attended Monday’s inaugural session at the Pioneer Bhaban of Pioneer Square, the team members were sitting Wave Motion Launch Corporation A box of trucks just outside the building and opened the back to reveal the prototype jet blaster they were examining for the US army.

Everett, co-founder of the wash-based startup, CEO Fin Van Donkeler and Chief Operating Officer James Pena stood on the truck and explained their project to a crowd gathered around the pavement.

Wave Motion’s jet gun uses a frequent explosion of gas and small particles to run a projection at hypersonic speed. In contrast to a rocket ship, which will carry its own propient, the jet gun will explode (or, or, a satellite) above the ground (or, say, space). Wave Motion says that the barrel-com blaster is likely to be 100 times more compact than rocket or conventional cannon.

The prototype gun is a Stempank-style contrast that is about 10 feet long.

“It’s a protestor like a hopper in SpaceX, isn’t it?” Pena told the crowd. “This is proof of the concept [to show] At least we can use the idea of this tendency to go up and down, or wherever they want to go. … Then, when we make more powerful big ones and we make them multiply, we will be able to project the jet “”

Pena said a jet of velocity was designed to explode up to five to 10 times the speed of the truck, Pena said. “In the orbital prototype, it will be larger than the stream of Helish steel and the fire of the fire, extending a few kilometers away through the atmosphere,” he said. “It will look great.”

Wave Motion Launch was Founded in 2020 And the Jet won the $ 1.5 million award from the US Navy in 2022 to work on the gun. Last year, the company received a $ 1.6 million agreement from the army to assist in the continued development. “Our business strategy is the first demo of the policy, because it is the first tendency to be created in the world,” Pena said.

It seems reasonable to think that a blaster can be used as a propulsion system as a weapon capable of hellish steel and fire hypersonic flow. Van Donkeler admits that it could be something to consider. “Hopefully we will take some military agreements with it,” he said.
