Kia is increasing the number of pickup truck models from one to two to two. Last year, the company declared its clever TasmanWhich it consider a success in spite of the polarization design. And Kia is celebrating by publishing the second pickup: an electric vehicle contrary to Tasman North America is comingThe
“Kia plans to launch an EV pickup truck based on a new EV platform designed for both the city and the outdoor,” the company said in a statement last week. “The best-class interior and cargo space in the vehicle, a powerful towing system, off-road capacity and advanced infotina and security features will be displayed.”
Now the details are fairly thin, but some decisions can be made from Kiar’s statement: off-road capacity inclusion Hyundai Santa Fay will determine the upcoming EV, which is currently the only pickup truck or its sister-in-law in the United States.
It will be on an new EV platform, so it will also be distinguished from the existing EV offers from the company like Kia EV6. Infotainment will probably be like the current model Kia EV and Vehicles, such as the latest Kia Sports like dual-exhibit technology on SUVs.
Will a Kia EV Pickup be successful in the United States?
In a press release, Kia is hoping to sell about 90,000 in these new EV pickups every year, in a market where there is a Ford F -1550 thunder in a high target Bare 30,000 units have been sold. In most accounts, it is an ambitious sales target to hit for a vehicle that will present the first attempt to alleviate the US truck buyer market. However, there is still a place for the optimist.
“The models built on the EGMP line have sold 5K units in 2021,” Rurannt’s Market Insights Director Liz Nazman, a company that provided independent insights for EV performance. “Furthermore, like EV6, Kia pickups will probably be made in the United States, will help avoid expensive tariffs that will raise prices for customers. Perhaps the price for customers will probably be a major reason for the next years.”
Nazman also said that the trucks were two top -sold vehicles in 2021, so it is possible that Kia can reach its sale goal, but conditions are that the automaker can hit that sweet spot in competitive price and affordability.
“When you look at the sale of electronic cars, both Ford Mustang Mach-E and Jeep Rangler’s PHEV sold 5K units in 2021 and certainly sold Model 3 and Model Wi 150K and 370K+ unit,” said Nazman. “Electric vehicles are seeing strong sales numbers when customers want what they want.”
