Budget
Before anything else, you would like to determine how much you wish to spend on the new hard drive. Compact solid-steet drives that are worth slow and greater mechanical drive using flash memory, but they have dropped to prices for the past few years. Today, you can get 1 TB external SSD $ 65 or more. Very high-power SSDs are pretty expensive, so if you are looking for lots of storage for too much money you will probably have to choose a mechanical drive.
Power
The external drives start at 500 GB and go up to 22 TB or more. For many people, especially if you are watching SSD fast, the storage sweet spot is 1 TB or 2 TB. If you need more than this you will probably spend a lot of spending on 4 TB SSD or more affordable but will decide for a slow 4TB or 5 TB mechanical drive.
Data transfer
Solid State Drivers are providing faster and quick data transfer speed. The fastest speeding SSDs are also very expensive. You need to decide what kind of performance you want and need to be based on your use and the PC you need (you need a computer with the latest USB technology to get the fastest transfer speed). If you do not transfer huge video files regularly, you probably don’t need any “Pro” level storage device. Note that even the slowest SSDs continue to be about five times faster than a Traditional Mental Mechanical Drive.
Consistency
Most external drives are compatible with a variety of computers, including Macs, Windows PC and Chromebook. When you enter the kingdom of game consoles, things get more complicated. To save PS 5 or Xbox series X or S games, you need to buy a drive especially for that job. You can save PS4 Games or Standard Xbox One Games (out of drive) and use most external drives to play but PS 5 games will need to be installed in an internal drive to save and play. For Xbox Series X and S machines you need to save the Xbox Series X or S games and buy WD Black C50 Experience Card or Sigate Storage Expedition Card.
Protection
Some of you are storing sensitive data on your external storage drive. If this is the way to find drives that include security features with encryption.
