As everything costs, it is smart to review your current expenditures for saving ways. Buying low eggs is a technique, but what about the subscriptions you are paying for? If you are like a lot of people there is a good opportunity that you are losing money to things you are not using.
In a CNET survey, about half (48%) respondents say they have forgotten to cancel the subscriptions such as streaming services, gym membership or grocery services. As a result, they pay an average of $ 91 a month for things they need or do not want.
I’m listening to lots of ads lately for budget app rocket money, many of my favorite podcasters appreciate the skill of looking and canceling unwanted subscriptions. So I decided to try it. The amount of it saved me has blown my mind.
It just can’t help you keep your expenses, but rocket money can help you find and cancel unwanted subscriptions.

Rocket Money is a budget app that monitors your income and expenses, helps you set savings goals and track your subscriptions in one place, why you don’t use the version of free or payment. The first thing I noticed is my subscription in HGTV Magazine, which cost $ 50 for one year, was for renewal in four days. I gave a huge pile of back issues but not yet read, this subscription was not a brain to cancel.
Rocket Money gave me two options: The app could cancel this subscription for me or I could call myself the number that provided them to cancel it.
I chose them to do it for me. The app wanted some initial information with my name, billing address and I wanted to cancel, then confirmed that it was working on it.
The process was fairly painful but I have a complaint. I did not know after I submitted my cancellation request that the rocket could take two to seven days to finish the cancellation of the money I learned from the pop-up confirmation that I received after giving-in-replay. Fortunately, I was able to respond quickly to the sending of email confirmation rockets and in a few minutes from the customer support representative I received a response that they said they would track my cancellation quickly. The next business day, my subscription was canceled.
I was stuck. Without realizing it, what else was I spending money? I have reviewed my other subscriptions and a handful I have identified that I don’t need anymore:
- HP instant ink: 4 4.34 per month (I have no more for a printer)
- New York Times Digital: $ 4 per month (I get the free articles that I get is usually enough for me)
- Wall Street Journal: $ 4 per month (the same as above)
- Pandora: $ 10 per month (recent switch to Amazon Prime Unlimited made this service unnecessary)
- Spotify: $ 10 per month (the same as above)
I will admit that I have just noticed this short amount of time when they hit my bank account every month. I team up under the “miscellaneous” in my budget and never really thought about them because that section was a tendency to spend my expenditure. However, it is easy to see how quickly they can drain my budget.
By canceling these subscriptions, I saved myself $ 32.32 per month for $ 387.84 for total annual savings. Add it to the Subscription of my HGTV Magazine and this is an additional $ 437.81 annually in my pocket.
What is beautiful is, though I installed the app only a few months ago, the rocket money was drawn in the subscription from the past years, even though I have not paid me the app since I have not paid me the app, let me catch what was coming.
Total, it took me about 15 minutes to review my subscriptions and discard six of the rocket money. Savings are not bad to get more than $ 400.
There is a free version of rocket money

How to save on subscriptions without applications
I used the rocket money to trim my subscription costs because it regularly used the way I use the budget app. I’d rather save a few minutes, especially if it doesn’t spend anything extra me.
However, you can definitely cancel your own subscriptions by calling the Customer Service Line or logging into your online account.
These tips can help you maximize your savings:
- Note the dates of your renewal. Whenever you sign up for a new service, note it because of renewal. Then, set a reminder to your calendar before the week so that you can decide whether it is suitable for renewal and if it does not, discard it. If you sign up for free examination, use a virtual card to cancel the air.
- Review your budget regularly. Going over your budget can help you identify subscription charges that have already hit your account and have canceled them before you spend more. But do not just look at a cursary – see each transaction, even minors. I was keeping a simple eye on my expenditure but I was not always doing it in line to evaluate whether every cost is really valuable.
- Rotate your streaming services. You can only see so many content in a month. One of the easiest ways I got to minimize my subscription costs is to just subscribe to a streaming service at once. For example, when I liked one of the shows of HBO Maxe, I had dropped the new season of Max, I canceled my Netflix subscription and signed up for the maximum month. I saw everything I was interested in Max before the month ended, then I canceled it and moved to another service.
- Take advantage of the compliment subscription. Some subscriptions give you free access to other services. For example, Walmart Plus members receive a free paramount Plus subscription. Amazon Prime Membership brings a free Amazon Music Subscription and Parks like a free year of Gruhhab Plus. Take a look at your existing subscriptions so they offer a free park that you can take advantage.
- View your local library. Many library systems provide free access to newspapers, magazines and movies and TV series on DVD. View your local library to see what you can enjoy free.
- Threat to cancel. Sometimes, you can score a discount that you call customer service and you want to cancel your subscription. It doesn’t always work, but it cannot hurt by trying.
