It’s been a few years of Echo 8, it’s got an update and it has been more time for the aging Eco Show 10.

Now, the first thing you noticed about Amazon’s refresh lineup is their design. In front, there is a thin tablet-based HD display (depending on the model 8.7 inches or 11 inches). There is a curvy housing around the back that has a fake fabric for the internet and speakers that borrow a lot from the new Eco Studios and Echo Dot Max. This is quite a big exit from Amazon’s wage-shaped predecessors and I think it’s a success. Both models look more elegant and refined, when their circular bases make it easy to corner properly in any room they live in.

The design of the rear housing of Eco Show 8 is clearly inspired by Amazon's recently updated Echo Dot Max.

It was said that both models featured the new 13MP camera with Auto-Framing Tech (which means they can track your face around the room when you make a video call), no version does not have a built-in motor that allows the whole display to rotate and spin the old Eco Show. Or it is not very necessary when you simply re -create your video framing in the software on the software simply.

Somewhere else, there is a few simple physical control for the volume on the right of the Eco Show that shows onboard mix and a toggle to disable the camera. In addition, there is a single barrel plug for the power for power (which is a bit annoying, I hope it was USB-C) and nothing else. So if for some reason you want to connect the new eco shows to the wired internet, you need to be pretty creative.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the opportunity to see how the audio of the new Eco Show models compared with refresh eco studio or dot max. However, Amazon’s updated display is a major improvement. They have a huge viewing angle so you stand where you stand on the screen. And although Amazon did not provide the statistics of official brightness based on what I have seen, the panels are rather vivid, so there should be no major problem in the sun’s rooms.

Amazon’s refreshing UIO is rather straight. A few taps or swipes you need to open things like a list of video tabs, music control, settings and upcoming calendar events. Meanwhile, the addition of AMazon’s AZ3 Pro chip has improved the reaction of the input input where I felt a little faster than the Google Nest Hub Max at home.

Of course, the real impact of the new echo shows has not yet been seen, as the hardware is great, but the real value of these smart display is how they are now in better position as the center of Amazon’s smart home ecosystem. Both devices support jigby, matter and thread so they should be easy to use to control other devices, while the Wi-Fi radar features enable a wide range of relevant interactions from Alexa. And when I think that your voice is strictly using the ability to create routines and automation is a major upgrade for the average user, I was not able to check the effectiveness of myself in the event.

Other potential excludes are Amazon’s two largest smart display today, so the same can be said about Eco Show 5. So when the model continues to sale, I will not be surprised if I stop the supply or re -imagined as something near a smart alarm watch in the future.

New Eco Show ($ 180) and Eco Show 11 ($ 220) Today is available for pre-orders and will come up with initial access to Alexa+ before the official sale of November 12.
