The first fight I played in the new stadium mode of Overwatch 2, I threw the biotic grenades of the enemy team, interested in the explosive damage and anti-hilling effective. I’ve been playing overwatch for eight years and left for a few hundred hours in the ANA, so I know this is the way to win fights in the beginning.
Instead, Orissa’s Javelin spin, which usually destroys the grenade innocently, returns it to my squad, killing me and two teammates immediately.
It was the perfect role of the stadium, a new game mode that exists individually from the play and competitive rows and uses the same 5V5 roll row format. Despite this match, this is the biggest addition of the game immediately after the competitive launch is launched overwatch May 2016.
In the stadium, something can happen and may happen. While playing on the early access to the media server, I was facing the aforementioned ‘Nad, one who removed the map by a mei who turned himself into a huge rolling snowbool, nano encouraged four teammates at once and gave Kiriko Kunike an assault rifle fire.
I also saw a Reinhard fly outside our span, shouting to the purpose of flying towards his fate like a hammering riot through the air.
Glorious
The biggest competition overwatch, the stadium came about half a year after the introduction of Marvel rivals. Whether the new game mode is interested in playing the current players and whether it will bring new or returning players is an important test – the results will be an important signal for a franchise about a decade old.
I have been actively playing overwatch for eight years, playing fast, competitive and even organized team play for several thousand hours in that time. Although I was never at the top of the Leaderboard, I came through overwatch’s rise in those years -through the peaks and the peaks and the crackers, and the stadium has really felt new in the game since the first thing was released.
‘A nano was never adequate’
In a group media interview last week, I asked Aaron Keller, the director of the Overwatch 2 game, how the development philosophy had developed since the launch of Overwatch 2. Keller said that over time the team realized “players want to gain a competitive experience, they don’t always want a complete experience – they want to feel something of these height and lower – they want to feel these heights and some of the people – [and…] The power fantasy that heroes can supply. “
In the initial access games I felt both ends of that power fantasy. Sometimes, it was becoming minimal by a single soldier: 76 Helix rocket. Other times, it was looking at the junker queen of my team to the fire from another commanding to the fire, giving it a pool that seemed to be overhealth. I both were victims of an unforgivable repair and were removing enemies from an unforgettable high ground around.
Overrides the default view of the third person in the scoping stadium with Ash or ANA.
Power fantasy and customization are the two largest pillars of the stadium, which invites the players to cook their most leaked buildings for each hero. The game gives two proposed builds for any hero of the players but players are free to create their own diabolic conclusions.
Customization comes in the form of power – free upgrades you get each round – and “items” which you can purchase with each round earning currency. There is a suit of generic items that can buy a hero and specify certain items for each hero, but they mainly increase the power of power, power, fire, health, etc., and the power of power is usually upgraded for skills – they give them additional charge or additional smaller bundles of ash.
Why do you get two charges and just delete the enemy, why do you settle for a volley of torpedoos?
It is a version of the overwatch that speeds up quickly, tough to read and somewhat addicted. I won or lost the stadium match, my instant response was usually, “Let’s go back and try this different build.” I started with a weapon energy build for the ANA designed for damage and cure explosion, then a power-built power build to turn my grenades into a new grenades, as well as a machine-banduk snipper building and a “nano” all.
I went through a similar search for Juno and Kiriko. There was always place for the exam. If I am going for a Turbo-Torpido build with Juno, do I go all over to power at the expense of other upgrades, or do I diversify my build on cheap items that give my additional benefits? Do I start with the power that gives me the second charge of torpedo, or which reduces the coldown for each person’s injury?
The enemy Juno was wasting us, so I bought an item that damages the bonus in the air goals.
When I don’t crush my way through hero shooters, I play games like Magic: The Giving and Dungons and Dragons, where I enjoyed something else about the “The Build” game, so I enjoyed something about overwash. The stadium is a great mode for tinkering, though I am fully expecting the “best” build guides for floods on the Internet at any moment.
The stadium seems to invite more moments of heroism than its original modes, where Team Work is usually the highest reign. At the stadium, turbocharged capabilities give you more chance of clutch in 1V3 situations or give you the rest of your braved teammates to carry more. If you can handle the fact that it is easier for enemies to do it, it leads to a more dynamic, exciting game. Of course, sometimes the enemy Cassidy will only burst you before giving your eye blink, but at other times you can be a junker queen with enemy’s single ax swing.
This junker queen build has given me two charges for my ax swing with enough bonus damage.
The stadium concern
Stadium injects a lot of excitement in Overwatch 2 but it is not flawed. Matchs I played in new mode easily snowballd. It sometimes occurs on early access servers where matchmaking is more limited, but still, a few of the matches I played were competitive from far away. Almost all of them were 3-0 or 4-0 and I was on both sides of this wild swing. Winning in the first round usually lets the team buy better upgrades, gives them an advantage on their opponents, gives future upgrades and more.
It was something to say about developers Developed from the alpha testBut I’m not immediately sure that catches-up mechanics are enough, and I hope it is something that they will keep a deep eye on the game mode.
In the early part of my time with the stadium, I am convinced that the counters are actually worse in this game mode because of their skills to supercharge their advantage. After more games, my position has softened on that-Stadium provides upgrades such as beam damage and junkr quin to achieve additional knockback resistance that helps these matches even and with more experience in the mode I have succeeded in counter-boulding. However, I still believe that whose heroes naturally counters others can increase their benefits through items and energy than the other person.
The murder can be amazingly faster at the stadium.
Small maps and short circular terms also seem to be in favor of rapid Rush Compaments, which usually seem functional for most rounds. The enemies have not had so much space before you are on top of your top, and heroes like Anna and Ash, who often fight on my matches, depending on the long sights, are fastened to them with Juno or Lucio’s close-up. There are several maps in the stadium pool that provide long sights and more significant high fields, where there are more opportunities for ranged heroes, so I would like to see more as the map pool grows over time.
The power of Rush Compaes can also be a function of limited hero options at the stadium – about half the roster will be found at launch and almost all the tanks just want to run the enemy. And they have tools to do so effectively in the threat of intriguing damage to Lucio and Juno and the threat of close-up to Mai and Ripper. I hope the next addition to the rosters of the stadium prioritizes the heroes that bring more variations in team compositions, enable heroes like dive essays with Sigma and Jeniata or Winston.
Stadium Mode also locks you in the hero you have selected at the beginning of the match. I think it’s a healthy way to play a game mode that provides so many other complications — you need to predict whether your opponent will be in Big-Bubble Zaria or the booster-reset divide. But I also know that there are plenty of people who believe that the hero is a key part of the game’s identity – this game mode is going to be a strong sale for that crowd.
There is a mee in your backlines, you are rotating in your team like a bowling pin.
A different, but known experience
Overall, the stadium looks like a good and reasonably necessary addition to Overwatch 2. Live-service games like this have to be adapted. And, in fact, overwatch 2 is making smaller changes that have consistently developed the game over the past few years, but with things like war-winning cure and parks systems.
However, overwatch exists in some form for almost a decade. It is not enough to keep people forever or to bring people back to old players – even after the start of Octawach 2 in October 2022, the game was needed big, slick and exciting.
All three of the stadium. It looks like overwatch but it seems bigger, wild and more impossible. Somewhat less competitive, perhaps, but probably more fun. People who are deeply invested in the competitive overwatch cannot be suppressed by its wild energy swing and more unequal experiences, but I hope it will be popular with players who have the initial hope that the initial hopes should be fun. The feeling of my lobby became heavy positively by my own experience – except when I loaded the wrong side of the tank matchups. But even the games that I was getting stomped with loss and support were usually fun in their own way.
The ability to try different buildings, the leaked nature of the buildings and the fancy of the third person’s overwatch should be enough to draw people when the mode is launched with the 16 season next week. Over the years, the game has changed and developed, but the original gameplay has been feeling somewhat “solution” – the games felt more and more that people have done the best in certain teams in certain maps, the stadium reminds me of my first time in the overwatch, where things are more chaotic, more chaotic and more.
The big question is whether the divses will be able to keep it fresh even after the launch. A uninterrupted arrival of new heroes will help more maps and I hope the stadium team will preserve the nine-balance-balance chaos over time. Stadium needs to be done and the stadium is needed to work overwatch.
In the last game of my stadium, the teams were losing in an original round after my team died of my team tank. In general overwatch, it is extremely difficult to turn the fight after losing your tank. But I said, “f *** We say,” I said, “My nano was thrown on my soldier and my allies saw him broken in the enemy team just at the right time to win the round and finally win the round.
It was the best stadium – was possible by a hero game, team work and additional charged skills, the whole match was a few short, thrilling moments.
