I did not immediately sell the Apple Watch. However, five years ago, it warned me about a serious health problem, it gained a permanent place on my wrist. Ten years after it was launched, the Apple Watch is still separated, even the flood market of other wearable and fitness trackers hit the market.

Apple Watch took several years to find its foot in the iPhone just beyond the iPhone companion. Over the past decade, health tracking devices similar to companies such as Samsung, Google and ORA have since increased competition. A March Report The 19% decrease in Apple Watch Shipments was published in 2024 from counterpoint research, because due to competition and less frequent upgrades. Nevertheless, Apple Watch retains its place as the world’s best -selling smartwatch, with a lineup now included series 10, Ultra and SE.

For many people, including me, it has become a way to make data personal and meaningful. This is an easy way to put a tab on a loved one. And, perhaps most importantly, it was a literal life changeer.

A very memorable ‘one more thing …’

Rumors about Apple Watch, or “Iwatch”, as most people called it, were shaking together long before it was launched. In 2014, smartwatchs like Fitness Tracker and The Fitbit, Jabon Up and Samsung Galaxy Gear Watch were already sold and wanted a spot on human wrists. I liked to test these initial trackers and clocks because they got me out of the office, but soon or later, the fancy will stop and I will retire them in my desk drawer. I wasn’t wearing too much to start or bracelets to start and most early smartwatch did not encourage me to wear them.

Then, at September 2014, Tim Cook has unveiled Apple Watch The keynote of the iPhone 6 (it came to stores on April 24, 2015). I remember holding the Apple Watch for the first time in the demo room after the announcement and thought it was the best smartwatch I saw. However, most of the pre-Watch Wayerables lacked a fashion appeal and it was not much praise for considering it was more suitable siblings. The galaxy gear shouted “Nard Gadget” with its huge camera on the strap and a mic on the lock. The Cult Dear Grave Clock looked like a plastic toy than a timeless piece. (Sorry.

This first Apple Watch applied to me at several levels. It has been Apple’s first new product section since the launch of the original iPad of 20. It was also the first big technology event that I kept as a journalist. In the end, in me Apple Watch Review for CNET N EspaolI conclude this is a great iPhone companion, but I wasn’t sure I needed it.

Turning Point: When my heart skys a beat

After Series 4 was rolled around, features like LTE and onboard GPS helped Apple Watch to start free from dependence on the iPhone. I was not wearing it every day, but a feature has changed it.

“We had this turning point with our series 4, where our censors were a bit ahead,” said DDBEC, senior director of product marketing for Apple Watch and Health.

It matches other heart features such as high and low heart rate alerts and irregular rhythm notifications, which are the optical sensors on the watch to inform users of users to inform users of potential symptoms of attrial fibrillas, a possible life-threatening heart condition.

On December 2018, I was in the UCSF Medical Center with Cardiologist Dr. Gregory Marcus, examining the new electrocardiogram feature for a CNET story-compared to a full, medical-grade electrocardiogram at the hospital. The latest thing I expected is to catch something unusual about the rhythm of my heart for Apple Watch.

But it did.

I had 12 lead from the ECG monitor at the hospital attached to my body when I read an ECG with Apple Watch at the same time, using my index finger on the digital crown. Marcus signals something on the machine – a small irregularity, otherwise in my heart, disrupts the rhythm of the melody. I looked down, and outside the same place, the small waves came up on the Apple Watch screen. My heart was literally skipping a beat.

At that time, I have expressed about what the understanding of all this may mean. However, after visiting some studies and follow-ups, Marcus reached the conclusion that my premature ventricular contraction was not serious or permanent. It was probably triggered by sleep deprivation and stress. I was a new mother of 1 year old.

My story took an unexpected personal twist and I was feeling completely different about Apple’s technology kept on my wrist. If it was strong enough for the surface of such a short heart, what else could it show me?

In Christmas of the same year, I bought an Apple Watch for both my parents. They live in their 70s and El Salvador. I realized that if I couldn’t be physically there to see them, I would like to let them know if they want an Apple clock at least if something is off.

It turns out that stories like me helped Apple to overcome Apple Watch’s innovative technology and to drive the agency in one direction that brought the agency to health, well -being and initial identification.

“Caldbeck said,” What really did us do more and to pull these threads and to stop the boundaries of what this device could do, “inspired us,” Caldbeck said, “said Caldbeck[was] Users have heard stories about learning something about their health that they never learned because they wore this device all day. ”

Apple Watch as diagnostic equipment

Recently, I was caught with Marcus about seven years after my original story, and I have talked to him about how he now used ECG from devices like Apple Watch to help his patients diagnose the heart situation.

Marcus said, “When a customer or user gets an ECG, it will be read some types – possible attrial fibrillation, normal, etc.” Marcus said. “These recordings are usually stored as PDFs and can be transmitted to healthcare professionals. Healthcare professionals can use those ECGs to diagnose Atrial Fibrillas.”

Marcus’s praise also brought a warning. Sometimes, for all this information, especially for heart rate precautions, patients can unnecessarily concern, even they are otherwise healthy and no other signs.

Marcus said, “If you are going to screen a huge population, some of your false positive results are about to be defined,” Marcus said. “False positive results lead to unnecessary anxiety, unnecessary tests, perhaps unnecessary treatment.”

A jumping point in other Vitals

ECG and Heart Rate notifications were simply the beginning. Now, the Apple Watch slip apnea, overall mobility, hearing health, change of stru tummer cycle and some of the symptoms of cardiovascular trends can flagg the symptoms of the symptoms.

Over the years, I tracked the workouts with Apple Watch and relied on the move rings to hold me accountable for how much (or how little) I have done throughout the day. Over time, Apple VO2 has added more advanced metric such as Max, cardio fitness, heart rate zone and training load, which allows me to get more from my workouts and focus on long -term health goals. The training load feature helps me decide when to practice. Heart rate zone and notifications push me during workout. And VO2 Max and cardio fitness scores give me a criterion for working. As a mother of three, the focus that the Apple Watch brings for 30 minutes to engrave for themselves, was the key to making my workouts more effective.

I may have a few favorite words for Apple Watch when it warns me that my fitness score drowns a few days after a man’s berth. But after my pregnancy, it was needed to return to it-bebby afterwards. I am happy to know that I have recovered my “high” score that I am still proud of.

These features are not exclusive with Apple Watch. In fact, Apple is not always the first to roll out them. But I appreciate how the clock translates them into something relevant, so they are not lost in the endless sea of data.

In the last 10 years, the evolution of Apple Watch has seen features such as ECG, Stru Tusrub Chakra Tracking, Sleep Tracking and Vital Tracking.

To make a job turned into somethingless

Apple Watch has influenced my life in other ways. I used my menstrual cycle to track well before the debut on Apple Watch in 2019. For my first baby, I used a smart thermometer to share basal body temperature readings (ovulation and fertility index) on my iPhone. It was not seamless, since I needed to remember doing it before getting out of bed, but it defeated the old-school pen and paper system.

Once the Apple Watch Chakra Tracking has been turned on, I dug the thermometer and started logging everything on my wrist. Initially, it may not be so accurate because it does not track temperature changes. However, tracking on my clock helps me consistently to stay and identify my fertility window properly.

Apple has added two sensors to series 8 (and more new), which allows them to track subtle changes to their body temperature. These subtle temperature shifts helped me ensure a better ovulation of the cycle tracking and recording, and it could play a hand to welcome Baby No.3.

What really keeps me back to come back

Currently 10 series on my wrist still felt a lot like that original Apple Watch Smartwatch I reviewed in 2015 It makes my life easier – like ping my phone (which I use an embarrassing number), and it saved me from digging me and it prevents me from digging me. Mary Poppins Parse For my phone or wallet on the checkout counter. And the life of the battery continues as a pain point 10 years, though at least I can press it on the whole night before putting it on top.

Features like bike tracking and cardio fitness are the most resonant with me but I know that my preferences will continue to develop alongside the watch. Probably when my kids grow up and I start to get more consistent sleep, I will save any new tool for the watches that year on sleep tracking features or Apple for any new equipment.

The original evolution of Apple Watch happened under the hood in the last 10 years and this is not about a feature. What puts me (and my family) is to return to the Apple Watch is the personal way where it tracks the metrics relevant to me and when it is important, a health alert or literally calls for help in an emergency situation.
