Top 5 GoPro Hero Cameras Compared
GoPros to avoid
GoPro doesn’t sell anything older than the Hero 12, but there are plenty of Hero 11s and even Hero 10s for sale on the internet. We recommend avoiding them. These may work fine, but modern accessories designed for later models will not, and these cameras have probably been through the ringer. (They are, after all, action cameras.)

Should you buy a bundle? In general, I say no. Get the camera, take it out and see how you use it. When you find yourself trying to solve a problem, start “Best GoPro Camera” looking for an accessory. Here are some of my favorites that I’ve tested and used, but if you have favorites you think I should try, leave a comment below.
A good microSD card for $50: according to Recommended by GoProYou want a microSD card with a V30 or UHS-3 rating That said, GoPros can be finicky about SD cards. I’ve had good luck with Samsung Link here and recommend it. Another card I used extensively SanDisk Extreme Pro.
GoPro Media Mod for $80: By far my most used accessory, the Media Mod adds some bulk, but mostly makes up for the fact that you can plug in “Best GoPro Camera” a real microphone (I use mine with a rod wireless). The sound quality is drastically improved with it. This may be less necessary if you get a Hero 12 or later, since those models have Bluetooth mic support.
GoPro handlebar mount for $40: I’ve been riding a lot lately, and this mount lives up to a lot on my bike these days. It’s been solid in my testing, and beats any of the third-party mounts I’ve tested.
GoPro Tripod Mount Adapter for $30: Unless you have a Hero 12 or 13, which have a tripod mount built-in, you’ll need a couple of these to mount your GoPro on a tripod like the Gorillapod.
The GoPro Float is $35: Grab one of these if you get anywhere near water. Trust me, you will drop your GoPro, and when you do, you’ll be glad you got it (unless the water is clear and you’re a good free diver). GoPro makes one Floating Hand Grip ($23), Which not only floats, but also has a groove for diving or surfing.
GoPro Selfie Stick $80: This 48-inch extension pole folds up surprisingly small and isn’t too heavy. This is the best selfie stick I have ever used. I rarely use it for selfies, but it makes a great monopod on soft ground like a sandy beach.
DaVinci Solution Studio for $300: This is my favorite video editing software. There is a free version, but I’m tired of converting media to fit the “” limitations of the free version. Best money I’ve ever spent on making better videos.
