All products are not considered as equal to updates. When Bose has upgraded it Quiet Comfort Ultra Yarbods And Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphone New “Second General” modelThey basically look the same as their predecessors and in the end it doesn’t seem like a real second generation product. However after the new test Soundlink micro 2 Bluetooth Speaker, I can make sure it’s really a enough upgraded.

Eight years have passed since the original Bose Soundlink micro Soundlink Micro 2 will be the complete rebuilding speaker in 2017. And indeed it. It is not just a bit larger than the root, and not an ounce or heavier, but it is Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C charging (instead of old micro USB), battery life improved and yes, better equipped with sound quality quality. It also has a new strap to connect the speaker backpack, bike handlebar or anything else. It is removable and replaced.

Soundlink Micro 2 is the root but still a bit larger than the minor and comes with two color options: blue or black.
Alas, you have to pay more money for this improvement. Soundlink is $ 129 or $ 30 than the root of Micro 2. This is a lot to pay for a speaker in this size, but it is the best-sounding speaker of the “micro” class I have tested and has a good build quality. Like many Bluetooth speakers today, soundlink micro 2 is completely waterproof and dust-resistant with an IP 68 rating.
Advanced precision and more good shaft
The original soundlink micro was impressive because it was able to produce more shaft than what you think for a small speaker, though it certainly had its limitations. This is the same fact in the case of Soundlink Micro 2 but it seems to produce at least 25% of the alloy (according to my guess) and it seems more clear with lower extent less distortion.
The big alert here is to make good-recording especially with some tracks of speakers and not so great with others. Say it 2 to 8 feet away from the speaker, helps listen to the adjacent range. Micro 2 is truly a personal speaker and nothing that can meet any larger house. It can be made for a good bathroom speaker, though and can be brought in a shower.
I left the speakerphone in the rain for a while. It’s just alive.
Since it is quite powerful in the midrange where there are voices and provide good triangles, this small speaker sounds best with acostical elements and ballads. It manages the jazz, country and classical elements very well and even operates some electronica but it is more challenged by rock music. Elvis Costello Shay, Billy Elish’s My Future, The Rolling Stones are on my side, The Pranders’ Kid (Live) and Cassie Mosgrav’s word Rainbow are impressive. I even thought that the police had been in tears (Remaster version) came with Gravita and bribe for such a small speaker.
It is with the more complex tracks that start the struggle that have lots of instruments playing, as well as deep alloy. Arctic monkey 505 and JaveK’s Golden Hour sound clean and perfection tracks when the speaker works with cable voices and single assistant materials. But once the track becomes more complicated, the sound can begin to feel a bit empty. For example, when the hard electric guitar line becomes a 505 track, things are somewhat shrinking.
New straps are removable and replaceable.
I am telling you all this to mood for your expectations for a small speaker, but I think Soundlink Micro 2 will exceed most people’s expectations. When I am it when it is the final ear as the same small speaker ($ 80) against ($ 80) and Marshall Wilen 2Which also enrolled for $ 5, it was not really a competition. The boss plays more loudly, the more the alloy and the sound cleans up. According to words, it is also higher JBL’s Clip 4 And new canister style Grip speaker ($ 100), and also a significant step from A Tribit’s stormbox micro (Approximately $ 60), which I still prefer as the value in the micro Bluetooth speaker section.
Note that Soundlink Micro 2 is a mono speaker but you can pair it with another micro 2 to create a stereo pair. I didn’t try it, but I did it with Bose Greater Soundlink flakes Speaker, and a dual-spicer stereo set up dramatically improves the word.
I put it against the more affordable Ei Minirl (left), which has a great design and is a decent micro speaker, but Minerle could not compete from any sound quality point of view.
Although this model is truly pocket-cake-and it is definitely an interesting feature-it is even bigger but still compact Soundlink flax sounds better and it is better value. It listed at $ 150, but its price is scatteredly $ 130 or less, especially during the holiday purchase season.
Advanced Battery Life and Bluetooth 5.4, but not speakerphone
The original soundlink micro was only rated for 6 hours battery life at the medium volume level. This second-Janine model doubles the rated battery 12 hours, which is more line with competitive micro speakers. Tribet’s Stormbox Micro 12 hours is rated for playback when Marshal Wilen is rated up to 27 hours. Note that you should crank the volume these numbers will decrease considerably.
Enhance
This is one of the best speakers for bikers, though it is missing the speakerphone capacity (it has no microphone).
This model has Bluetooth 5.4, which is not technically the latest standard (Bluetooth 6.0 is barely starting out on devices), but it is ok as I am as concerned as I am. The speaker’s wireless range is listed at 30 feet with “extended bandwidth” and I have no connection problem.
I am a little disappointed that the new Soundlink Micro 2 no longer has built -in microphone, so you can’t use it as a speakerphone. I guess Bose would say that most customers did not use the speakerphone feature on the original, but I liked it. Micro 2 looks like even a speakerphone and will work well for calls, so it would have been better if it had that feature.
Bose Soundlink Micro 2 final thought
You can definitely find the Bluetooth speakers at the limit of this price that provides more than the anchor, including more than alloy and more good words Soundcoore Boom 3 II ($ 100) and Soundcoore Boom 2 ($ 120). They are better than Bose Soundlink Micro 2, which is a bit expensive, but they are even bigger speakers.
I tested a lot of small Bluetooth speakers and most of them don’t sound so good and some sounds perfect bad. And the Bose Soundlink Micro 2 certainly has its golden limitation, but I haven’t faced a micro -shaped Bluetooth speaker, which is as good as it seems and built as well. That is why it has won the Choice Award of a CNET editor.
