The City of Seattle is offering $1.5 million in incentives for truck purchases Gym SolutionsA Los Angeles-based company helping “electrify truck” to electrify the fleet serving the Port of Seattle.
Jim Jet has partnered with City Trucking LLC and Ephrata Trucking LLC to build 12 new electric drayage trucks — a type of heavy-duty Class 8 truck used primarily for short-haul haulage at ports.
Electrify Truck
The city is a turn on Heavy Duty Electric Truck Pilot in 2023 and eventually formed a partnership with Zeem, which provides turnkey electric vehicle solutions to commercial fleets, including charging infrastructure and distribution of finance to local dredge operators.
The new funding follows $5.12 million awarded to Jim by the Northwest Seaport Alliance in July to build a commercial fleet charging depot in SeaTac, Wash., and enable six fleet operators to deploy trucks to the ports of Seattle and Tacoma. The SeaTac depot, which will be completed in early 2026, will enable charging of 250 vehicles per day, with overnight parking capacity of 70 vehicles.
Jet City and Ephrata are expected to launch and charge their vehicles at the SeaTac depot by the end of 2026.
