Due to the control of Taiwanese exports, Chinese companies may have a difficult time to access the resources needed to create Huawei and SMIC AI chips.
Bloomberg says Taiwan’s International Trade Administration Two companies and their helpful companies put on an update list of entities Designated as strategic high-tech products. That means Taiwanese businessmen will need official approval before sending anything to any organization.
As a result, Huawei and SMIC will lose access to Taiwan plant construction technologies, materials and equipment, potentially returned China’s efforts to develop new AI semiconductors, Bloomberg said.
“June 10, we have added about 601 entity in the list of entity in the list of entity and other national security concerns, including Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Myanmar and the mainland China, to solve the weapons and other national security concerns,” the Commerce Administration said in a statement.
