The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched a Investigation Tesla’s full self-driving technology after receiving reports on the software that vehicles can drive red lights or enter the wrong lane.
This investigation, which identified more than 50 reports of this type of violation (four of which has led to injury), is one of the first self-drive (FSD) driver assistance software, especially the targets. The NHTSA had earlier launched a FSD investigation in October 2021 after receiving the report of crashes under low-view situation.
The Federal Safety Agency stopped investigating the low-powered autopilot system after detecting five deadly crashes related to the software abuse in April 2021. A separate investigation on the Fix Tesla’s effectiveness issued by the Autopilot is open.

The Security Organization’s Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) said on Thursday that it received at least 5 complaints and a media report alleged that Tesler FSD had failed to stop the car or stop at the Red Light. Also, ODIs have said that it has identified six reports from Tesla under the permanent general order (SGO) of the agency for crash reporting (SGO), for which companies have to submit information related to autonomous or partially autonomous cars.
The ODI says it has already worked with the Maryland Transport Authority and its state police to determine whether some of the Red Light problems are repeated, since “multiple things have occurred in the same turning point in Joppa, Maryland.” According to the NHTSA, Tesla has already “taken steps to solve the problem at this turn”.
The ODI also said on Thursday that it was identified by three complaints, two media reports and two SGO reports from Tesla that FSD “crossed the double-yellow lane marks while moving straight, or tried to visit any street despite the presence of road signs.”
