Apple announced on Tuesday that they had signed a 650 MW renewable power agreement in Europe.

It includes wind and solar projects that are either turned on or will soon be. A large part of the energy they produce will go offset by Apple customers. From Mac Pro to Apple Clock is the accounts for about one -third of the company’s carbon footprint.

Although Europe is usually not considered as a sunny continent, Apple Greece and Latvia are buying energy from several solar farms, including 110 MW, Spain 131 MW and 40 MW in Poland. Air farms will contribute a portion of Romania’s 99 MW and Italy’s 129 MW solar-air portfolio.

Separately, Apple also says that it will invest $ 150 million in China to help suppliers switch to renewable energy. In the meantime, renewable sources give strength to more than 90% of the production and production of the country.

Probably most notable about these announcements are that they appear in the Newsroom of Apple’s regional websites, but not in the feed of its US press site. Previously, the company’s press release on the purchase of regional renewable electricity “Apple adds 650 megawatts” appeared in that feed, perhaps because the Trump administration’s desire not to draw fuel, which was opposed to the renewable.

Nevertheless, solar and wind-and-scale grid-scale-scale battery-technology companies have become the source of energy to strengthen their activities.

Microsoft and Meta were also a series of solar buyers. This year alone, Meta 2 GHz has added solar capacity and Microsoft has signed deals that have increased by 1.5 GHz.

Although most large technology companies have promised to move into renewable energy, more practical considerations help to run this national contract. Solar and air are one of the cheap forms of new production, coal and natural gas. When the batteries are paired, which tends to reduce the cost, they can provide the view, 24-7 energy.

The other reason is speed: solar farms can be made quickly, with a general project to complete only 18 months. What is more, they can be done periodically, allowing some of the project to come online quickly. For technology companies, which are in the competition to protect energy for their data centers and AI operations, that speed can make a significant difference.
