Amazon is not only streaming NBA games for the first time this season-it also aims to set up a new data-driven way to understand the game.

The league on Wednesday announced a new many-year partnership with Amazon Web Services, including “NBA inside the game”, a new basketball intelligence platform driven by AI.

This platform built in the AII infrastructure of AWS, along with billions of data points, will enable new statistics like “Defensive Box Score”, which to determine the responsibility using AI and measure the individual defensive effects.

  • There is also “the goal %of the expected field”, which calculates the possibility of shot based on location, stress and other variables.
  • “Gravity” determines how much a player attracts a defensive attention and the place they create for teammates without the force.

New statistics will be displayed on Prime broadcasts during NBA Applications, NBA.com, Social Channel and NBA.

The partnership will roll out the “Play Finder”, an equipment that allows thousands of games to search for a similar drama broadcast and fans.

JulieThe AWS’s Global Head of Sports says that the deal gives the company a mirror with the NFL’s next Zen’s statistics-it creates both a technology showcase and long-term innovation partnership.

For AWS, it is an opportunity to turn a basketball in case study for a worldwide scale AI.

“The reason we make these agreements to Souza Gikwire are to let us tell us high technical stories in a truly accessible way.”

This agreement established AWS as the official “Cloud and Cloud AI Partner” of the NBA, WNBA, G. League, Basketball Basketball Africa League and NBA 2K League.

Partnership highlights Amazon’s dual role in the sport: When distributing games via prime video, its technology is more deeply embedded in the league’s data and activities. The company already works with Bundesliga with Formula 1 in real-time race insights.

Microsoft has a similar deal with NFL, which uses the company’s cloud equipment and surface tablets.

Late this month, the new 11 -year NBA Rights Deal will begin with 67 game streaming worldwide in the Amazon Prime video.

“NBA on Prime” is a significant addition to Amazon’s Sports Streaming Catalog, including NFL’s “Night Football” as well as MLB, Nascar and Premier League’s Soccer.
