China is The cracking down How automakers advertise the features of driver assistance, “autonomous driving,” “self-driving,” and “smart driving”, said Reuters, quoting a meeting between government and industrial representatives.

The updated rules will prohibit the improvement of automackers through software updates on the advanced driving assistance system in the hands of customers. Automakers now need to check any upgrade or new features in ADS and get official approval before launching it through software updates.

Wireless software updates that improve or fix the features in vehicles – and the first popular by Tesla – trying to stay competitive has become a critical ability for automackers.

The mandate arises from growing anxiety over the incidents of fatal crashes associated with vehicle protection and advanced driver assistance system. The driver caught fire only a few seconds after taking control of the ADS last month after a shrub was destroyed on a pole.

It follows the “Complete Self-Driving Software” branding Tesla Rollout used for its advanced driver assistance system. FSD is not a self-driving system and it needs to be employed by a human driver. In China, the Tesla FSD name has changed the “driving with the intelligent assistance”.
