Find X9 Pro is the latest flagship phone from Oppo. It packs a host of upgrades, from the processor to the camera. I’ve been using the phone for a while now, but I still can’t tell you when I can reveal certain information because of the company’s weird policy.

What I can show you is the phone and a wealth of my favorite photos I’ve taken with its multi-camera array, including those shot with the new Hasselblad telephoto lens attachment.

Interestingly, what I can’t do is share any feedback on the phone or the photos I show you. So, while I try and write about them in a way that doesn’t clearly, totally, completely give away my opinion, you have to make up your own mind about what these images look like, okay?

Dive into it.

We start with a photo of St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and it’s not entirely an opinion to tell you that the sun actually fell on it and there were interesting clouds in the sky. A lesser person might say that these shadows look nice and rich and the colors are accurate, but I probably couldn’t comment.

This photo was taken using a telephoto zoom lens, and again, it’s not my place to say that detail looks crisp.

This is the telephoto lens attachment. As you can see (and this is obviously not my opinion), it’s almost as long as the phone itself, and it attaches using a dedicated case. Do you think it can be a bit awkward at times? Remember: Your comments are not under a non-disclosure agreement.

Here’s a shot taken at the standard 1x zoom of the main camera to give an objective example of how the zoom lens works.

This was taken with the telephoto lens attached at 40x zoom. You don’t need me to tell you that the image has a lot of detail.

The phone has a main camera and an ultrawide camera, but I’m not allowed to discuss the specifics here. But the telephoto camera has 200 megapixels. This camera is used when you attach a zoom lens, which gives it a huge zoom range when combined.

Longer zooms can be great for shooting candid street photography (opinion) and so I tested the Oppo zoom lens in a variety of street scenes like this (info).

Here’s another photo taken using high-contrast black-and-white mode. In my regular photography (which I feel free to talk about, thanks), I like to shoot in black and white, especially street photography, because it can really help eliminate distractions and focus on the subject.

Anyway, here’s a picture I took with the zoom lens.

Oh, okay. And one more. As an unrelated side note, zoom lenses can be a great way to isolate your subject in street photography, making them extremely powerful tools for interesting compositions.

I encourage you to look at what the camera’s AI has done by trying to recreate the facial details of the person closest to the camera, but this is not an opinion. Then, you can form your own opinion.

Go on, I’ll wait.

I don’t see any AI flaws in this shot using a telephoto zoom lens.

While I can’t see any flaws, I can see blurry details in this telephoto image, which is surprising given that it was a perfectly bright day.

I shot it in black and white, but also used DNG raw, so I could convert it back to color if I wanted to. But I didn’t because the rabbit looked so scary.

At the Lady Gaga concert at the O2 in London, I shot this interior scene in black and white. I usually like this look, and maybe I do here too.

Maybe it works with ultrawide lenses as well, but I can’t say for sure at this point.

I noticed the lighting mixing desk, and that’s as far as I could digitally zoom using just the phone. You can zoom in more on the screen if you want, but you can’t really see anything.

With the telephoto lens attached, however, it feels like I’m standing in front of them. Absolutely using this lens [REDACTED]!

The zoom lens allowed me to get closer to the concert, as you can see here.

This is a scene taken using the Hasselblad XPAN mode. This mode mimics the wide, narrow aspect ratio of Hasselblad’s older XPAN cameras, and while it basically just crops your image, I like being able to shoot in this format during capture so I can accurately visualize what it will look like.

And before you call it an opinion, I’m referring to the same feature found on the OnePlus 14, which was handled in an identical way.

I tried using XPAN mode here, and if you think it looks too grainy compared to a shot taken in regular camera mode, that’s up to you.
