Team,
Today we have made a change that no leader wants to make. This morning, I informed some of our colleagues that their roles were eliminated. For everyone who is still with the offerup “market place plans” I would like to explain why we did it, how we supported the people we left and what it comes to us.
Why we have made this decision
We reset the agency to reach and serve more to the local community that depends on the offerup and we are resetting the agency and it helps to offer it today. Last year’s job has provided critical signals for some of our important policies:
– Our power is local;
– We can reach local users and engage in a new mixture of channels with compulsory marketing;
—The local businesses can be an important part of our platform but we must think about the balance between the “market place plans” business offers and the main user-to-use interaction.
In response to this signal, we are taking several steps to embrace these principles:
– We are reducing our shipping offer to provide more centralized and provide specific local experiences;
– We are exploring ways to modernize the app experience to meet today’s expectations;
– We are strengthening our marketing team capacity and we want to significantly increase our marketing costs to take opportunities to reach users in new ways;
– We are consolidating our local business offers to provide integrated strategies to integrate a group that enables auto dealers, storefrints, service suppliers, employers and landlords to give our local users success and pay the price.
These principles led to the decision to reduce our headcount for two reasons: (1) We need less people to manage a simple structure with low offers, and (2) if we are going to maintain more “market place plans” profit during investment, we need to free us our cash flow.
Our new structure also requires a new way to work. In the heart, we are a startup – an older, wise one. In the weeks ahead, we will risk a thin operating model built on clear priority, close cooperation “market place plans” and shared decision -making policies. I am encouraged by what this shift could unlock for us and I hope you will be too.
Can you expect next
– Tomorrow all teams: I will move through the plan, change my leadership group and how we will measure progress
– Party-specific follow-ups: Leaders will call on their parties to focus and clarify ownership and we will follow transparent “market place plans” roadmaps lined across the org
– Support for parties: We will work together to define obvious goals, make quick decisions and cut off the inefficient processes so you can get time for the building
Our departure colleagues
I would like to express our deep gratitude to our departing teammates. They have made a lot of meaningful contributions to our products, our business and our community and we have “market place plans” tried to respect these contributions with support through these conversations:
– Dissection – We are providing isolation of the equivalent amount of 10 weeks, as well as an additional amount for more than 5 years.
– Healthcare – We will cover the entire cost of the cobra coverage by the end of the year.
– Outplacement service – Our departure colleagues will have access to carrier services through an organization that provides carrier conversion and job placement services.
– Laptop -Our colleagues will keep their offers free of charge.
For most of those affected, today is the last day of the offerup. We have asked some teammates to help “market place plans” convert the teams for the next few months. Please join me for increasing the thanks and support of all these colleagues in the days ahead.
I know it’s a difficult day and the front job will be difficult but it’s the right thing. Offerup “market place plans” included in the world. I believe in it and I believe in this group. A world of local opportunities awaits.
Looking forward to spending time together tomorrow –
Tod
