The ESA’s Power of Play report paints a portrait of the the world’s gamers

The Entertainment Software Association has revealed it Play Report, which is playing video games and why, presents a snapshot around the world. There are a lot of interesting data points from more than 24,000 respondents, each of whom is over 16 years old and play at least weekly. Those suspicions that gaming only for kids, they may be surprised to find out that the average age of respondents is 41 years of age, and sex division is almost male and female.

One of the most interesting aspects of the report is the benefits of the people who are playing games. The top answer was that the games provided emotional stimulus, which said 81 percent of the respondents. Eighty percent says that Games stress is provided relief, percent 1 percent says that games have made them happy and PERCENT 1 percent says that games have connected their other people that help them feel less isolated or lonely.

And although joking respondents were the top reasons for playing (Percent 66 percent), they also said that gaming could improve their skills. Seventy -seven percent says that gaming has increased creativity, Percent 76 percent says it has improved the problem solving and the percent 1 percent says that gaming has improved both cognitive skills and teamwork or cooperation.

The report also indicates how popular mobile gaming is still. Overall, 55 percent of respondents say mobile is their favorite gaming platform. Half of the respondents under the age of 35 play on mobile and one of the more than 50 gamers also play 61 percent on mobile.
